Today, I bagged work at 3:00 and headed for the bay. I already had all my gear in the truck because I knew it was going to be windy this afternoon. I was in the water by around 3:30 or so... maybe shortly after that.

I started on my 14 meter kite and rode that for a few tacks and then I switched to my 9 meter kite. I wasn't very well powered on that kite. So, after about 30 minutes, I came back in and switched back to the 14. It's amazing how different the two kites feel. The 9 feels like you're flying a Porche. The 14 feels like you're flying a Dodge Ram 1500 - Though... with a Hemi. I stayed on the 14 until 7pm when the wind shifted and really picked up.

The clouds were moving from west to southeast and it looked like anything dangerous was going to pass to the south. I re-rigged my 9 meter kite and got in a few great runs on that kite. I love that kite. It is by far my favoritest kite. The clouds did some really freaky movements. They went to the south of us, but then the re-grouped and seemed to back up over us again. I came in and landed my kite because it was looking scary. The guy who caught my kite pointed out into the lake and asked, "Did you see that twister?"
"No!" was my reply as I scanned the clouds looking for it.
I spotted a small tornado that was picking up water and said, "Woah! Good thing I came in!"
Then, the other guy noticed the same one that I did. Before that, he had been looking at two funnel clouds that hadn't touched down yet. We watched the sky as I packed up my kite. 3 more funnel clouds formed and one of them touched the lake. I snapped a pic of that one Twister.
Here's a closeup...

Overall, I had a great time. I ended up kiteboarding 26 miles according to the GPS. My max speed was 22mph. Here's the GPS tracks and the wind graph for the time that I was out.
