Worth the voyage 2006-03-19 |
My first view from the tiny town of Harper's Ferry was from the Hilltop Hotel's overlook. Amazing! Harper's Ferry, which sits at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers sits on a hill with one of the most amazing views that I've ever taken in.
Every time we'd move toward an overlook, Tal would say, "Prepare for some majesty." Every time, my reaction was, "Wow." We visited the town's cemetary and read, or tried to read, many, many tomb stones and walked to Jefferson Rock where the views just kept taking my breath. Luckily, Jefferson's Rock qualifies as a virtual cache. A virtual cache is a geocache that doesn't actually consist of a physical container, but you find it by visiting a land mark of some sort and then emailing answers to questions to the "owner" of the cache. So, we killed two birds with one "stone" so to speak. After we left Harper's ferry, we did go find another real cache at the top of a mountain about three miles away . The view there was equally amazing |
