Happy Birthday Pops!

Yesterday turned out okay. After sitting on the beach watching the strangest wind patterns I've ever seen, it finally decided to blow out of the North East at a steady 14 or so. I don't know what happened to the GPS, but it seems to have only recorded a portion of what I rode today.

I know I walked back up wind at least 8 times. This certainly doesn't show that. Tomorrow might blow a little. We'll see.

Dave, the video I took of you opens with Quicktime.

Car looks good , but will you be comfortable enough on a trip to see Tal? Long legs and low seats sometimes are a pain in the knees and back.

No. I didn't take her with me. I don't know if she'd enjoy it at all. She was actually at the Mud Hen's game last night celebrating a birthday with her mom and that clan.

'fer - the new phone cam is better than the last one. Thanks for the 2 new pics of Miss M. Like I said before, what a doll.

CLH - glad to hear of the progress. That is good news.

Biz - did you take BBCK with you car shopping? It sounds like a pretty good car - we see Scion's here, so don't have to go see what you are referring to there.

ALL - have a wonderful weekend. Love - MOM

Ball game was huge fun, the Hens, won the game 7 to 2. The foundation walls have received a coat of black waterproofing and more stone added to the outside of the walls. The house has passed it's first building inspection that will now allow the builder to backfill the walls and move forward with the project. I was told that the house would be moved in a "few" weeks. I figure 3 weeks at the inside, but more likely 4 weeks. Things are moving in fits and starts, but they are moving. Yea!

Yesterday, I went to Thayer in BG to look at the sedan version of the Yaris. I kept drilling the salesman with questions and the more questions I asked, the more he leaned towards the car that was sitting right next to the sedan Yaris.

Scion's xA.
That link goes to an old review... the 2006 version of the xA is a better car. It still looks the same, though.

I liked it. It has all of the "nice"-ities that are opional on the Yaris... but they're all standard on the xA. And, the price is about the same. It doesn't have quite as much cargo room, but it has enough. Plus, I can add a roof-rack to the xA.

So, how was the test drive - interesting placement of the speed thingy - like I told SOPOPs - right out in the middle so everyone can see how slow you are driving! Hw laughed and admitted sometimes he does drive slowly. But then, he is retired and is no hurry to go anywhere!

I looks like you have a nice day there - 75 already but then, it is June isn't it.

Don't forget - as if TV would let you - Father's Day is Sunday!

Love, ma

hatchback or sedan? Hatchback would be more practical

Nope. It's just not practical. I can't use it to go kiteboarding and I can't use it to go see Tal.

Did someone try to kill you with a left turn? That's what made me sell my cycle... It just wasn't any fun after that.

Good plan and that car looks like a winner. Will go to our local dealer to have a look.

I'm not getting rid of the truck any time soon. This will be a purchase to supplement the truck.

I'm getting rid of the cycle.

The Yaris looks like a neat little car, however one problem with small cars is the distance between wheels -side to side is not as wide as the other cars and so they are almost useless in deep snow. Check it out.

I'm going to a Hen's game tonight even if thermals don't develop.
Reply
BizB       Thu Jun 15 01:33:45 PM
I'm waiting, watching to see if a thermal will develop at the bay. Usually, when there's a wind from the east and the air temperature inland is well above the air temperature over open water, we'll get a boost of an extra 5-7 mph of wind.

If that doesn't happen, I'm going to go visit the Toyota dealer and test drive a Yaris.

Measuring seals shouldn't be too difficult if you level them first.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level
Mean sea level (MSL) is the average (mean) height of the sea, with reference to a suitable reference surface. Defining the reference level [1>, however, involves complex measurement, and accurately determining MSL can prove difficult.

When they designate "Sea level" is it at Maximum high tide? I've yet to see a level sea, what with the waves and all

Even tho they issued a mandatory evac for all folks on the west side of 19 we have stayed here as the storm had passed our point on the coast and we really didn't have anywhere to go to at 5 PM last night as the storm covered most of the state. We have had heavy winds and that is causing a storm surge and they are expecting 8ft of water and high tide tonight will push it higher. We are 12 feet above sea level so if it comes up here we will leave.

I'm not so sure the table is going to turn out very well. I don't have a radial arm saw and while I did buy one of those angle-transfering gadgets, it would appear that it didn't hold the 60 degrees very well. There's lots of gaps on the table top. I will continue with it, but I'm not so sure how proud I'll be when I'm done.

I need to pick up some more 2X6 lumber before I can finish and I didn't want to go to Home Depot today. BBCK wants to help me finish it any way.

What a beautiful flower! Thanks.
FYI - Big bro called - and also posted a note from our "late son" - He hasn't lost his sense of humor although his memory is a lot like mine. Here today gone tomorrow!
Now, I've forgotten what I came here to say - oh well!

We had some rain today - we were at the pool when the wind picked up and a table & umbrella went for a swim - we fished them out with the help of 5 others there and then also went to the other pool to put away the 6 new umbrellas we got last week. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow too. It is not continuous or heavy but we will gladly take any that falls.

All for today - love all around - ma/gran/greatgran

I see that I've had visitors to my hole in the ground. The pictures don't seem to capture the size of the basement, when you're standing in the bottom looking out.

The house in the background is my only next door neighbor.

Happy birthday POPs, from your late son. God I wish I had better memory for the important stuff in life.

Biz, call me if you're interested in going to MIS on the 19th (I've been given the tickets)

The other night while trying to get settled for sleep, I asked SOPS - if Polish people are called Poles, why aren't peolpe from Holland called "Holes" and today it is in the paper!! Someone must have my house wired for stupid jokes.

The other one in the paper is - "do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultery?" I sure wish I had thought of that one too - the laughter in the bedroom would have lasted a little longer, maybe.

Got new pics from Big Bro this morning and he said he would update it daily - sure hope so.

Revitup - thanks for the b'day wishes. 70 is such a big number but he doesn't look it - comparing him to other 70ers in our little community.

Hugs all around.

P.S. - I have a new flat, thin computer screen - wonderful.
