On today's breakfast ride, as we crested one of the hills along River Rd, a white Bronco (or Bronco-like SUV) attempted a pass when there was no way he could have seen if it was safe, or not.

It wasn't.

He was probably doing 40+ when he noticed an oncoming car pinching off his chances of a complete pass and return to his lane. His reaction scared the hell out of all of us, but it was probably the safest thing he could have done. He jammed on the brakes and went further left of center ending up on the shoulder of the far side of the road. As the rest of the line of 20-ish cyclists made our way past him, he flipped us off. Classy.

He ended up behind another car once he got going again. I watched him in my mirror. Less than a mile later, he turned left. He risked all of our lives to save just a few seconds off of his trip time.

I'm really glad that it didn't end up being as bad as it could have been.

The rest of the ride was without incident. Breakfast was yummy, even if my poached eggs were hard. We went out to R109 before heading north. I love that ride!
